Are you ALL in? For some of us this phrase conjures up images of sports or group challenges. For others – card games and gambling. For others – images of loyalty to someone or something come up. We look, sound, walk and act in a very powerful way when we “Go All In”. We are PRESENT! We are COMMITTED! We are HERE! This cannot be duplicated or falsified. We can sense and even “smell” it when someone is only partly committed to something. It’s tough to engage in SOMETHING or with SOMEONE you don’t fully believe in. What if that “someone” is YOUR SELF? What if that “something” is YOUR TRUTH/VISION? Are YOU ALL IN your life?
DO YOU BELIEVE YOU? Here’s the thing: People will not believe in you if you do not even believe in your Self. With all the marketing of products and services in which we engage – it all boils down the YOU behind the product or service. Knowing and connecting to my Truth is what animates my vision, ideas, projects, initiatives, and goals. This vibrancy is what attracts others to take part. We work so hard to learn how to convince and sell, but it seems to me it’s more about people sensing something real to which they truly connect. So when I choose to be All In, it is less about adopting and internalizing something that may not be congruent with my Truth; and more about being clear on my Truth so I can pour it ALL IN to a life I choose to lead.
TRUTH CANNOT BE BORROWED: When we adopt something that is not connected to our own Truth that does not mean we cannot be successful. We do it all the time! We can make most anything work with enough energy and focus. We can convince someone of anything. We can sell anything to anyone. The questions are: “For how long; and at what costs?” When we adopt something that does not sit well with our gut, we are not internally powered to keep going. We are borrowing from someone else’s power source. It takes a lot of energy to assimilate a Truth that does not match my own; and then try to convince others. We go off our “game” when we do this for too long. On the flip side, we emit something on all levels when we are in alignment with our Truth and we go All In from within our “SELF”.
YOU DECIDE! When I refer to “Self”, I am not referring to ideologies, belief systems, social constructs, etc. I’m referring to something deeper – Essence. My fullest and most irrevocable commitment is to my Truth (the deepest part of me/the God within me/my “Beingness”/Power/Source). I do not find my Truth in definitions fed to me by the society of which I am part. I do not find it in the perceptions of others; and certainly not in the biases and emotional attachments I accumulate and deconstruct during my life. It can be a scary experience to define “Self” outside of these boxes. However, when willing and able to do so – we can receive the best rewards. There are numerous examples of this for us – people who reach deep within themselves and manifest their vision in the outside world (E.g.: Oprah Winfrey, Tony Robbins, JK Rowlings, Will Smith, etc). We also have examples within our own lives – those people who shine brilliantly and powerfully. Those people whom, unapologetically, walk to the beat of their own drummer; and blaze trails as they do so!
TRUE ENDORSEMENT: I admire and consider authenticity to be the true genesis of endorsement. I find it mesmerizing when a person – just by virtue of being – attracts based on who they are, what they do, and how they do it. This is more potent and innate than any science or process we can construct. It’s something I continually strive towards. Often with great intentions, we are all continually in search for the best way to verbally convince, mentally cajole, emotionally manipulate, physically influence, and sometimes even coerce each other into doing certain things and behaving certain ways.
When we speak from our Truth, and choose to create or invest in things and people that align with our Truth, the need to manipulate begins to fall away. In its place resides something deeper, much more attractive, and exponentially more potent: A Truth that is a part of each and every one of us. It is inexplicable and yet it is where we are all connected. It animates what we do and say. It is what we contribute to and benefit from when we allow our passions, ideas, and visions to manifest. This nexus is where we know and understand each other without use of words. We recognise it when:
We see certain people
Participate in certain activities/work
Create/listen to music
Dance/watch someone dance
Witness miracles, and on and on….
When the Truth of who I am bears witness to the Truth of someone else, I don’t have to be convinced, I KNOW we are ALL IN during these moments.
So what is being “ALL IN” to me? It is one of the most powerful experiences I can have in my life. It is a courageous SHARING OF and unfettered CONNECTION TO my TRUTH so I can powerfully manifest my vision and passion. It is being so clear of my Centre that I can share the visions and passions of others with clarity, love, and commitment.
so I may pour my Essence into my vision, my work, my creations; or contribute (with clarity) to another person’s vision and passion – that reflect my own Truth.
What I feel happens is that we attempt to duplicate this transaction in many ways. We attempt to adopt truths and then convince others to do the same. It is something we all do in many ways – big and small. As an example, in a minor disagreement, our main goal often becomes more about convincing the other person (or people) to convert to our way of thinking, being, acting, etc. It is less about ASSERTING my Truth and allowing it space to be. It is more about INSERTING my Truth in other spaces.
I am learning that my efforts and energy are best spent keeping a lock on my Truth and maintaining my commitment to my Truth. This alone takes plenty of focus and energy. This alone allows me to shine brilliantly enough that if others share the same Truth, we can connect. Additionally, the other commitments I take on in my life must be reflections of my Truth to allow me to remain committed – otherwise I become fragmented and . Anything other than that will take a lot of work, energy, manipulation, cajoling, illusion, and denial to maintain. This is a long-standing continual lesson for me. At times, I may lose full clarity of my Truth, and commit to situations or people that do not match. What do I do when faced with a situation or person to which I can no longer commit? Do I:
Example: I absolutely LOVE helping people, solving crime, and keeping communities safe. It gives me a thrill to be of help in such a close way; and I am passionate about it. For these reasons and more, I would love to become a police officer. However, rather than following my impulse to become a police officer, I decide to become a lawyer instead. I can make more money, there are less societal pressures, and I am – after all – still helping people, fighting crime, and keeping communities safe in my own way.
