The passing of the artist formerly known as Prince hit me straight to my heart. Why? I attached to his magnificent expression of his Truth – that spoke so loudly our collective Truths: We are most powerful in our Authenticity. We have the farthest reach when we express our Truth. We are drawn the most strongly to the realness in each other. His passionate music and stirring songwriting kept me company during challenging childhood times. My favourite colour was purple. Prince was himself without apology. This is what I remember most about this wondrous man who TOLD the world who he was. He did not wait to be told. – as I think of the magnificence of Prince and the decades of his contributions –
“What defines us is how well we rise after we fall” As I watched the young man in this video – coming to his moment of Truth – my initial thought was “NOOOOO!”. However, what initially caused me alarm was fundamental to what followed. This man allowed a moment that is often judged harshly to become a beautiful part of the whole. What follows appeals to me on so many levels; and is therefore so beautiful to me. Thank you for this share Masaaba Mwambu ☺
It was a catalyst for the beauty, the powerful expression, and the exploration of this capacity. One of the most tremendous gifts in life is our flexibility – our ability to change and evolve to see the beauty in all our experiences through various lenses.
You can argue: “It’s all good – unless you fall and break your neck!” Well – yeah – I have to agree that would put a crimp in my plans! No doubt! Even with that said, my motto remains: As long as I am breathing there is opportunity. My life is full of falls. I can fight falling at all costs or I can acknowledge falling is part of my experience and do so with grace and insight. One thing I have noticed is that when I fight and resist, I get a lot more bruises and breaks. When I am flexible and allow, my landing is that much softer. Have a wonderful evening. xoKeda
